Apple Prints

Today we cut open some apples and used them to paint! One of my fond memories from early elementary school was cutting an apple horizontally and seeing the “star”. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you HAVE to do this.

Apple Prints

Apples
Red, Yellow, Green Paint
Paper

Take 2 apples. Cut one horizontally and the other vertically down the center. You can do more cutting of the duplicated halves. Used the cut apples as stamps and see the designs they leave on the paper.

Landon had a great time mixing the different colors and thought it was super funny that we were using food to paint with.

  1. I have some apple star story visuals on my blog with the story. You can print them out 🙂 I do this but we use paint that matches the color of apple-so we use green apples w/ green paint, red with red paint, etc. Then with the rest of the apple we have a taste test afterwards- the part that we did not use for painting of course 🙂

    1. Love the color matching idea! We only got the cheapest apples for this activity since they were just going to be thrown away, but I love that idea!
