Gelatin math? Yeah, you read right! Today we worked on number recognition and counting and had a blast getting messy at the same time!
Gelatin Math
Unflavored Gelatin
food coloring (optional)
Marbles or other counters
Number cards
Mix 1 packet of gelatin in 1/2 cup warm water and mix, add 1 cup cold water in a large tub. I did a total of 8 packets worth for the bin I used (so 4 cups warm water and 8 cups cold…), add food coloring. Put the counters in the bottom of the tub. Put it in the fridge to set up for a few hours.
Pull it out. Turn over number cards one at a time. Have your child identify the number, then have them pull out that many marbles or counters and put them in another container. Continue until all the counters are gone – put them back and do it again! (or just play have have fun with the gooy mess!)
