As Halloween quickly approaches we’ve been getting into the monsters and pumpkins – and as I was perusing pinterest a few days ago I realized that we haven’t done any bat crafts this year! We still have a few days left – I may try to squeeze them in!
This craft is very simple and fun to see what kind of monster is created!
Blown Paint Monsters
Paint
Water
Drinking Straw
Googly Eyes
Water down some paint, I didn’t measure – but I used about half as much paint worth of water. Plop a little watered down paint on a piece of paper and with a straw blow the paint around.
Make sure the straw doesn’t touch the paint. Landon had a lot of fun with this, but I needed to make him take a few breaks as he was blowing a LOT and I’m sure he was starting to get a little light headed.
Once the paint is dry, add googly eyes.
Oh – on the painted monsters! Landon LOVES the googly eyes and if I let him he’d use the whole 100 pack of eyes on one monster!
You could also add other details with crayons or markers, like arms, legs, or antenna.
Another fun way to create a monster this way might be to use two colors for the same monster and see how the overlap and the colors mix.

I love how you turned process art into an art product! We’ve done straw art before just for fun, but this is great! 🙂
